DESIGN AND MATERIAL Construction Process Gratings are to be made up of steel flats of size 25mmX6mm thickness and 8mm twisted round steel bars, Flats are to be serrated to an extent of 5mm at a pitch of 25mm and placed at an equal distance of 25mm C/C, 8mm Twisted Steel bars are to be welded in serrated portion of flat Wherever 8 mm twisted bars are to be welded, 9mm serrations are to be made and pitch of these bars is to be 75mm C/C, Twisted bars shall be fully pressed into serrations of bearing bars and welded on both sides with frame bars, Each piece of grating is to be secured by welding 25 mm x 6 mm plain flats on four sides, Gratings are to be manufactured as per BS 4592 Part 1- 1995- which confirms welding of steel shall be either by Arc welding in accordance with BS 5135 or resistance wielding with no slag and homogenous on welds joints. Each bearing bar shall be tack welded to each cross bar from one side in staggering pattern and each bearing bar will be fully welded to frame bar from both sides, Welding should be free from all welding defects, Welding slag and splatters should be properly cleaned, Pressure locked into bearings bars to form a square pattern non slipping surface & welded at ends to the main frame, size of fillet weld 3 mm
